Star Wars: Unlimited

As it says on the official site, it is “A Game of Unlimited Possibilities.” The game features iconic heroes, villains, ships, and locations from all areas of the Star Wars franchise, including movies, TV series, comics, video games, books, and more. Unlimited is reasonably easy to learn for more those trying on their first TCG (or CCG, as Fantasy Flight Games calls it), but it is fast-paced, dynamic, and has deep strategy options that will appeal to more hardcore gamers.

Committed to both ends of the player spectrum, Fantasy Flight’s website for Star Wars: Unlimited aims to connect players through local events, promote brick-and-mortar stores that sell their products, and be the primary resource for information, such as Game Rules. It also encourages players to create a profile to manage their card collection and work through game theory by creating new decks.

The first “core set” for Star Wars: Unlimited, Spark of Rebellion, includes 252 cards. There are many ways to get your hands on cards from this first series. One solid option for the casual gamer is the Starter Kit, which contains two Commander-style (for those familiar with MTG’s Commander Decks) pre-built decks of 50 cards, perfect for getting familiar with the mechanics or introducing a TCG newbie to the game. This Starter Kit will also be popular with collectors and gaming diehards, as it will feature 10 cards that are exclusive to the Starter Kit. Outside of that, you can buy 16-card booster packs by the pack or by the box. A popular way to collect will be to attend a local event, most likely at your local game/hobby shop. In addition to league play, many local events will feature sealed pack openings, drafts, and special prizes. These are great events for everyone along the player spectrum.
